All of this for HOCKEY?
You know the slogan “Dont Mess With Texas”? Well I think the same can be said about Canada.
Last night the Vancouver Canucks lost in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals to the Boston Bruins and as you can see from the images, they didn’t take the loss so well.
Fans took the streets of downtown (Hamilton & Georgia Street) Vancouver setting cars on fire, breaking windows, looting into stores, and fighting local police. Spokeswoman for Vancouver Coastal Health Alyssa Polinsky, local hospitals reported eight people being treated for stab wounds.
Merchandise went all over the streets of downtown when looters at The Bay broke into department stores allowing them to get a hold of merchandise which included Coach & Burberry purses, cosmetics stores including M.A.C women were seen tossing products to each other etc.
Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson;
“It is extremely disappointing to see the situation in downtown Vancouver turn violent after tonight’s Stanley Cup game,” Robertson said. “Vancouver is a world-class city and it is embarrassing and shameful to see the type of violence and disorder we’ve seen tonight.”The vast majority of people who were in the downtown tonight were there to enjoy the game in a peaceful and respectful manner. It is unfortunate that a small number of people intent on criminal activity have turned pockets of the downtown into areas involving destruction of property and confrontations with police.”
